DYNAMITE COMES IN EARTHEN VESSELS (2Cor.4:7)

03 Dec

‘But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us’. These are sobering thoughts from Apostle Paul when he penned these words whilst in prison in Ephesus. God has blessed his Church with highly gifted Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers. The list is endless. From a worldly point of view, some of these preachers are categorised among high ranking celebrities. But whatever accolades the world may give us, we have this treasure in earthen vessels. It is God who deposited various anointings and giftings in his earthen vessels. It is dangerous to classify earthen vessels thus come up with so-called SUPER APOSTLES, SUPER PROPHETS, SUPER EVANGELISTS, SUPER PASTORS AND SUPER TEACHERS. It is even more dangerous to rely on the CONTAINER THAN THE CONTENTS. Men of God are getting more accolades than God himself these days. Could this be a new manifestation of personality cults and hero worship? Time will tell. It is equally dangerous for preachers to usurp God’s glory. Lucifer tried it but it did not work out to his advantage. This all-surpassing power is not from the CONTAINER BUT FROM GOD. Truth be told, dynamite does not come in gold, silver, copper and brass vessels. God made a well-calculated move to put this treasure in earthen vessels so that no one will boast. There are some undeniable facts about earthen vessels:
# Earthen vessels are fragile
# Earthen vessels can be marred
# Earthen vessels have defects and imperfections
# Earthen vessels are earthy and earthly
# Earthen vessels are risky to use
# Earthen vessels can easily get broken
# Earthen vessels have a limited life span
While it is good to celebrate people God raises among us, let us be reminded that DYNAMITE COMES IN EARTHEN VESSELS.
