LYRICS OF HOPE (Lam. 3:22-24)

11 Mar

Words in a song or poem can either convey a picture of gloom or hope. In music these words are called LYRICS. In the book of Lamentations, Jeremiah who is known as a Weeping Prophet makes LYRICS OF GRIEF concerning the fall of Jerusalem. A lament is a poem or a song of mourning hence Jeremiah vents out the agony of loss and destruction of Jerusalem. The whole book of Lamentations is a cry of despair in Babylonian captivity. It paints a picture of HOW BAD IT IS. In the midst of the lyrics of grief, Jeremiah shifts the gear to HOW GOOD IT IS i.e. LYRICS OF HOPE. Check out the following:
– The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases
– His mercies never come to an end
– They are new every morning
– Great is thy faithfulness
– The Lord is my portion, therefore I will hope in him
Stop lamenting about your situation and start composing lyrics of hope. Do not focus on HOW BAD IT IS but on HOW GOOD IT IS. Make this confession: THE LORD IS MY PORTION, THATS ALL I WANT.
