The word ‘favour’ has become a buzz word in the Christian community. Everyone of us wishes to see the favour of God upon us. Could it be that the Old Testament practice of burnt offerings could possibly shed light to our understanding of how to access God’s favour. The Jews would regularly worship God through burnt offerings of fattened animals. The smell of the burnt offering was believed to reach God’s nostrils (anthropormophic language) as a sweet smelling savour. Similarly people are parting with their money to buy chicken from Nandos, KFC, Chicken Inn, Chicken Licken etc. The bottom line is that we go there to buy FLAVOUR. Therefore all these Chicken outlets have a SIGNATURE to their chicken. I am of the opinion that every believer has the capacity to have a unique flavour of christian lifestyle which becomes his/her signature for favour. The Psalmist says, ‘May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice’ (Psalm 141:2). Paul’s letter to the Romans (12:1) beseeches us to present our bodies as a living sacrifice. May the FLAVOUR of your prayers and lifestyle be your SIGNATURE for your favour.
