# The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-24)
You cannot talk of the place called rock bottom without mentioning the story of the Prodigal son. Here is a Jewish young man who is born with a silver spoon in his mouth. This young man asks his father for his inheritance which is as good as wishing your father were dead. Loaded with his bounty, he goes to a far away country which in jewish culture was tantamount to distancing himself from God. In judaism, holiness was measured by your proximity to the temple. When he went out there, he began to engage in a riotous lifestyle until he spent all his inheritance. Then there was a famine in that land just at the time when he had spent it all. Eventually he found himself on rock bottom working in a pig sty. What a humiliation? You could be in rock bottom right now due to the wrong choices you made. But one thing you can do is to refuse to make rock bottom your place of permanent residence. The prodigal son bounced back out of rock bottom because of 3 Rs. REMEMBER, REPENT & RETURN. When he came back to his senses, he remembered his position in his father’s house. He repented of his wrong doings i.e. he made a U turn. He returned to his father’s house and the father received with open hands. Your past in rock bottom should not determine your future. YOU ARE MARKED FOR ELEVATION. THE PIG STY IS NOT YOUR PORTION.
