As we start our journey of faith in 2015, I would like to assure you that whatever the devil rules in your life God overrules. When Jesus died on the cross he declared that IT IS FINISHED. Jesus was overruling every negative word and every negative plan ruled against you by the devil. Remember that the devil is the accuser of the brethren. He is a liar, he is a loser and he is a failure. He may have ruled out the possibility of you making it in life. But what the devil rules, God overrules. The devil tried it with the three Hebrew boys in Babylonian captivity. King Nebuchadnezzar ruled that they be thrown into the furnace of fire for refusing to bow to the King’s idol. This was a BOW OR BURN situation. What made the King to be very furious was their declaration that, ‘OUR GOD IS ABLE TO RESCUE US, BUT EVEN IF HE DOES NOT, WE WILL NOT BOW TO YOUR IDOL’. When they were thrown into the furnace the FOURTH MAN came to overrule what the devil had ruled. In the New Testament the devil tried it with Paul and Silas. After casting out a demon from a certain girl, little did they know that they had put some people out business hence they influenced the judicial system leading to the ruling that they be jailed. But at the MIDNIGHT HOUR God overruled what the devil had ruled. The jailhouse was shaken, chains were broken and the jailhouse gates were opened. In the above passage King Hezekiah of Judah had received threats from King Sennacherib of Assyria. This king had terrorised surrounding nations and communities. At this time he had besieged the city of Jerusalem with the intention of either plundering it or alternatively King Hezekiah and his people had to voluntarily surrender to him with all their wealth and belongings. But King Hezekiah declared words of hope and assurance to the people of Judah. He said, ‘With them is the ARM OF FLESH but with us is THE LORD OUR GOD to help us and fight our battles’. Remember that the Psalmist in the same vein says, ‘Some trust in horses and some trust in chariots but we will trust in the Lord our God’ (Psalm 20:7). Apostle John says, ‘Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world’ (1John 4:4). What the devil had ruled God overruled by sending one angel to annihilate thousands of Assyrian troops. In all the challenges you are going to face in life, be strong and courageous. Everything that the devil is going to rule in your life God will overrule it in Jesus’ name.
