The wisdom writer of Proverbs says, ‘As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he’. This means that a person is the sum total of what he thinks. Even a person’s character is the sum total of his thoughts. In my journey of life and interaction with other people I have come across diverse characters. This article is an attempt to describe the THINKING STYLES of some of these special people in society. Without some of them, the world would be a dull place to live. The first and most emulated group are the LEVEL HEADED PEOPLE. These are generally calm, sensible, reasonable, sober, realistic, rational etc. Second in line and also well appreciated are COOL HEADED PEOPLE. Although they may easily be classified as level headed people, they are in a class of their own in that they are calm, composed, gentle, temperate, serene, still and relaxed. The third group are the HOT HEADED PEOPLE. These are the quick tempered, unruly, very sensitive, they think aloud, they talk first and think later, they are fast to react, they are quick to take offence. The fourth group are the THICK HEADED PEOPLE. Generally these are viewed as unintelligent in that they lack intellectual acuity. They are stubborn and idiotic in temperament and they are also dull-witted. This group is also called the EMPTY HEADED PEOPLE. The fifth group are the BIG HEADED PEOPLE. Such people are conceited, arrogant, boastful, full of oneself, proud, swaggering, puffed up, they have a loud mouth, they know-it-all. They are also called SWOLLEN HEADED PEOPLE. The sixth group is that of SHALLOW HEADED PEOPLE. These are simple minded people who lack intellectual or mental depth but may not necessarily be idiotic. Blessed are the level headed and the cool headed for they shall have friends that stay and not friends that stray.
